Lager, Pat
Pat Lager, Director of International Programs with the College of Social Work at Florida State University, where she has been on the faculty for the past twenty years. In addition to her academic work, she has provided annual consultation and training to social workers, agencies and ministries in the Caribbean Islands through the Florida International Volunteer Corps for approximately seventeen years.
Prof. Lager teaches a course in international social work and social welfare at the CSW and coordinates the placement of approximately 12-15 students per year in international field placements throughout Europe, South Africa, and the Caribbean. She has taught a professional development course in Europe each summer for social work practitioners and administrators, in addition to conducting study abroad programs for students in varying locations several times a year. Currently she is teaching an online course in international social welfare, which includes students from Hungary, Trinidad, and the U.S. She coordinates the Committee on International Social Work at the College of Social Work and is an appointed member of the CSWE Council on Global Learning, Research and Practice. She recently co-authored an article entitled A Model for Developing International Student Exchange, which is to be published in the Social Work Education journal.
