Ph.D., Assistant Professor, School of Social Work, Virginia Commonwealth University. Her practice background includes international development work in Central America where she was initially a Peace Corps Volunteer and then later worked for the agency as a technical trainer in health and youth development. Her publications include ethically grounded approaches to international learning and globalization. Her research agenda broadly focuses on families impacted by war, which includes military families as well as families in war torn nations. Included in this definition is intercountry adoption and her current research focuses on Guatemala and system reform of the nation’s adoption system. She consults on this issue as well as serving in the capacity as an adoption agency evaluator as required by the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption.
